Authority for Interstate? Requirement/Processing
The operating authority processing includes the application to obtain your DOT and MC Numbers. The application process takes at least 21-27 business days (3-4 weeks) for process to complete. Within this time you will need to have obtained your liability and cargo insurance and have it in place. In additions to have filed with the FMCSA by your insurance company or carrier.
The FMCSA requirements for insurance active authority are:
- $750,000 for Geeneral Frieght Haulers
- 1,000,000 for Car & Hazmat Haulers
